Inventory and manufacturing software in the US: which tools ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Mode recommend

We asked ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Mode 12 questions that makers and consumer brands ask about inventory and production software: Shopify, batch tracking, purchase orders, moving on from spreadsheets. The answers name 26 tools. Katana leads, MRPeasy follows, and the answer changes completely once the question is about selling across channels.

Katana first, MRPeasy close behind

Katana is named in 27 of the 36 answers, and first in 21 of them. MRPeasy follows with 20 and Cin7 Core with 15. The questions were written from Katana's offer (see the method), which helps it; the order of the others is the more telling result.

MRPeasy does better with ChatGPT, which names it in 10 of 12 answers against 5 each for Gemini and Google AI Mode. Katana is strongest with Gemini, at 11 of 12.

Selling across channels is Cin7 Core's question

On the 2 questions about multichannel selling, with QuickBooks, WooCommerce, Amazon and several warehouses, Cin7 Core is named in all 6 answers and Katana in 1. Linnworks is named in 3, Zoho Inventory, Finale Inventory and Sellercloud in 2 each. Google AI Mode puts other names first here: SOS Inventory on the first question, Veeqo on the second.

Food and regulated goods are the most open theme, with 15 names in 6 answers. On a small food business that needs batch tracking and expiry dates, ChatGPT puts Wherefour first, while Gemini and Google AI Mode put Katana first.

ERPs enter when the company grows

ERPs are named in 23 of the 36 answers. NetSuite leads them with 15, ahead of Odoo (9), Acumatica (7) and Microsoft Dynamics (6). On production planning, Katana is named in 10 answers of 12, MRPeasy in 8 and NetSuite in 7.

The split shows at the top end. On purchase orders with demand forecasting, and on custom hardware makers, Google AI Mode names no Katana at all: it answers with NetSuite, Acumatica, SYSPRO, Epicor and Fishbowl. On scaling from spreadsheets, Odoo appears in 5 answers of 6, just behind Katana.

ChatGPT names more, and only 9 tools reach all three

ChatGPT names 4.8 tools per answer, Google AI Mode 3.8 and Gemini 3.4. Nine of the 26 tools are named by all three models, among them Katana, MRPeasy, Cin7 Core and NetSuite. That core is smaller than in our team wiki study, where 17 of 27 tools reach all three, and most tools here depend on one model or two.

MRPeasy is cited more than it is first

mrpeasy.com is the website cited most, in 14 answers, ahead of katanamrp.com in 12 (and its support site in 5 more) and cin7.com in 11. Independent sites are further down: softwareconnect.com in 5, erpresearch.com in 3. MRPeasy is first in only 3 answers, so being a source and being the first recommendation are different results.

What this means for inventory and manufacturing tools

• Say which channels you handle. Amazon and multi-warehouse questions go to tools known for them. A manufacturing tool with those features needs pages that describe them.
• Regulated goods are open. Food, cosmetics and lot tracking have no settled leader. Specific pages by industry and by rule have room here.
• Watch the point where ERPs take over. On forecasting and complex production, the answers move to NetSuite and Acumatica. Tools that serve these buyers need to show it, with examples of company size and complexity.
• Own documentation counts. Vendor sites and help centres are the main sources. Detailed support pages can be cited in the same way as marketing pages.

Method

12 questions in English, written from the offer of one vendor, Katana, across direct-to-consumer brands, regulated goods, multichannel selling, production planning and growth from spreadsheets. Each question was asked once to ChatGPT (with web search), Gemini and Google AI Mode, for the US market, on October 28, 2026: 36 answers. We looked in each answer for 36 tools (names and common spellings), counted the answers naming each, their position among those names in the answer, and the websites cited. NetSuite and Oracle NetSuite count as one name, as do Cin7, Cin7 Core and DEAR Inventory.

This is a snapshot: three models, one day and 12 questions. AI answers vary from one session to the next, so a difference of one or two answers between two names is not significant. Because the questions start from one vendor's strengths, they favour it and tools like it; they do not measure the whole market.
