Business schools in France: which ones ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Mode recommend

We asked ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Mode, in French, 12 questions that students and executives ask when they choose a French business school: Grande École programmes, Bachelors, Masters, Executive MBAs, programmes for international students. HEC Paris, ESSEC and ESCP come first when they are named, but specialised questions open the answers to schools outside Paris.

The Paris top three come first

HEC Paris and ESCP are named in 14 answers each, ESSEC in 11. They are named early: HEC Paris's average position is 1.6, ESSEC's 2.1. On the Executive MBA for an executive moving into innovation, the three AI models name HEC Paris and ESCP, and only Gemini adds a third school, emlyon. On double degrees and campuses abroad, the top three are in every answer.

emlyon is the school named most

Outside the top three, emlyon is named most, in 16 answers, more than any Paris school. KEDGE and TBS Education follow with 12, SKEMA and Audencia with 10, EDHEC with 9. These schools are usually named lower in the list: TBS Education's average position is 4.1, IÉSEG's 6.2. They take first place on specialised questions:

• TBS Education on a Master in Toulouse or the South-West, where every model names it, and on careers in aerospace, where Gemini and Google AI Mode name it first.
• Audencia, KEDGE and SKEMA on Masters of Science in sustainable finance and CSR.
• emlyon, SKEMA and NEOMA on luxury marketing for international students, and emlyon, NEOMA and KEDGE on summer schools.

Seven answers name no school

On the state-approved Bachelor with a strong ethical and social dimension, none of the three AI models names a tracked school. Gemini answers four questions without naming any (triple accreditation, sustainable finance Masters, DBA, and that Bachelor), with general advice instead of schools.

Rankings and the schools' own sites

The answers cite 73 different websites. The one cited most is meilleurs-masters.com, a ranking of French Masters, in 8 answers; etudiant.lefigaro.fr comes up in 4. The schools' own sites follow: audencia.com, em-lyon.com and tbs-education.fr in 7 answers each, ahead of hec.edu (5).

What this means for business schools

• Prestige wins the general questions, specialisation wins the others. HEC Paris, ESSEC and ESCP come first on Grande École programmes and Executive MBAs. On a sector, a city or a theme, a school that is clearly described on it is named first.
• A school's own pages are read. Audencia, emlyon and TBS Education are cited from their own sites more often than HEC Paris. Programme pages that answer a student's question directly are sources.
• Rankings feed the answers. meilleurs-masters.com is the first source. A school's place in the rankings for each programme is part of what AI says about it.
• Some questions have no answer yet. When the AI models name no school, the first school that publishes a clear answer to that question has room to be named.

Method

12 questions in French, written as students and executives would ask them, from the programmes of one of the schools tracked (TBS Education). Each question was asked once to ChatGPT (gpt-6, with web search), Gemini (Flash-Lite) and Google AI Mode, from France, on October 22, 2026: 36 answers. We counted the answers naming each of 12 tracked schools (names and common spellings), their position among the tracked names of the answer, and the websites cited.

This is a snapshot: three models, one day and 12 questions. AI answers vary from one session to the next, so a difference of one or two answers between two schools is not significant. Schools we did not track, such as ESDES or Montpellier Business School, are not counted.
