Car parts in France: which websites ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Mode recommend

We asked ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Mode 12 questions French drivers and garages ask about car parts: cheap brake pads online, a timing belt kit for a Renault Clio, an urgent battery, four-season tyres, a parts catalogue for an independent garage. Three websites dominate the answers, Autodoc, Oscaro and Mister Auto, and Gemini refuses a third of the questions.

Three websites share the answers

Autodoc is named in 20 of the 36 answers, Oscaro in 19 and Mister Auto in 17. On the four questions about buying parts online, the three are named in almost every answer: Autodoc and Oscaro in 12 answers of 12, Mister Auto in 11. All three models name all three, in close numbers.

The difference is the order. Oscaro is the first name in 8 answers, Autodoc in 5, Mister Auto in none: its average position among the names is 4.8, against 3.3 for Oscaro. The car centres come next: Norauto in 12 answers, on every theme, and Feu Vert in 7.

Bosch is the parts brand named most

Bosch is named in 13 answers: on brake pads, oil filters, wiper blades and batteries. Valeo follows with 9, then TRW (6) and Sachs (5). On the wiper blade question, the three models name Bosch first and Valeo second. On oil, Castrol and TotalEnergies are named in 3 answers each, Motul in 2.

The answers name a parts brand to vouch for the parts, and a website to buy them. Only 2 answers name brands without any website or car centre.

Garages and tyres have their own names

For an independent garage's parts catalogue and for a small fleet, the answers turn to trade names: Autodistribution, Alliance Automotive Group and the garage booking platforms iDGarages and Vroomly, with Autodoc's trade site. On tyres, the names are 1001Pneus and Allopneus. On an urgent battery delivered within 24 hours, Avatacar is named by ChatGPT and Google AI Mode. Mister Auto is named in none of the answers about batteries, tyres or fleets.

A bigger bubble is more answers on the theme. Small bubbles without a name are named in one answer: hover them to read it.

Gemini refuses a third of the questions

Gemini gave no answer to 4 of the 12 questions: oil filters, the urgent battery, a mechanic's tool case and four-season tyres. It replied that its safety filters had stopped it, or that the question was beyond what it was built for. ChatGPT and Google AI Mode answered all 12. When it answers, Gemini names the same three websites as the others.

Google AI Mode names the most: 8 sellers or brands per answer, against 6.7 for ChatGPT.

mister-auto.com and oscaro.com are each cited in 9 answers, the Autodoc sites in 7 (auto-doc.fr) and 2 (autodoc.pro), norauto.fr in 5. Comparison sites (Idealo, 123comparer) and the Caradisiac forum are cited in 2 answers each. Mister Auto is cited as often as Oscaro, but named less often first.

What this means for car parts sellers

• Three websites hold the parts questions. On buying parts online, Autodoc, Oscaro and Mister Auto are in almost every answer. The fight is for first place, and Oscaro takes it most often.
• Each need has its own leaders. Tyres, urgent batteries, garages and fleets bring other names. A parts seller that wants these questions needs pages written for them.
• Brands vouch, websites sell. The answers name Bosch, Valeo or TRW as the quality reference, and a website for the price. A seller's pages should show which of these brands it stocks, for which car.
• Not every assistant answers. Gemini refused a third of these questions. Visibility in ChatGPT and Google AI Mode counts for more in this category.

Method

12 questions in French, written as French drivers, home mechanics and small businesses would ask them. Each question was asked once to ChatGPT (with web search), Gemini and Google AI Mode, from France, on October 16, 2026: 36 answers. We looked in each answer for 75 parts websites, car centres, trade distributors, comparison sites and parts, oil, tool and tyre brands (names and common spellings), counted the answers naming each, their position among those names in the answer, and the websites cited.

This is a snapshot: three models, one day and 12 questions. AI answers vary from one session to the next, so a difference of one or two answers between two names is not significant. Gemini's four refusals count as answers naming no one.
